Take Trixie for a test run.

Install on Chrome or Chromebook

1. Download the ZIP and extract it into a permanent folder in your files.
2. Type chrome://extensions into Chrome’s address bar.
3. Turn on Developer mode at the top right of that page. You do not need Chromebook system Developer Mode.
4. Choose Load unpacked and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
5. Open or refresh Gemini. Trixie should appear beside the composer.

Update an existing installation

Replace the files in the folder you originally loaded with the extracted ZIP contents. Click Reload on the extension’s card, then refresh Gemini. Keep the folder in place while using the extension.

Name your pet

Open the companion’s settings and edit Pet name. Your saved name appears in the caption. Clear it to restore the pet’s original name.

Use your custom pet

In Chrome’s puzzle-piece menu, open Universal Pet — Gemini Companion, choose Import pet, and select your signed Universal Pets ZIP from the studio. Older unsigned pets need a new verified export; their saved data is retained. Then refresh Gemini. The pet ZIP is separate from this extension download.

What this test build does

The extension shows short activity updates such as “Working on it…” and “All done!” beside your pet. It needs no API key or running desktop server. It stores settings locally and does not read or send your Gemini conversations. Names have a basic offline safety check; custom imports must carry a valid pipeline review signature, and stored pets are checked again before use. This is a test build, not a Chrome Web Store release or an official G-rated certification.
